First identify the record holder. Circuit civil, felony criminal, divorce, district civil, small claims, district criminal, county traffic, juvenile, and child-support matters are within Circuit Clerk Brian York's unified office. Estates, wills, guardianships, conservatorships, adoptions, commitments, name changes, marriage certificates, and land records belong to Probate Judge Chad Joiner's office. Talladega city tickets and city-police misdemeanors belong to Municipal Court.
Online access is only one channel. The Circuit Clerk has a Northern Division in Talladega and a Southern Division in Sylacauga. Written requests can go to P.O. Box 6137 in Talladega or P.O. Box 183 in Sylacauga. Probate offers online case and land-record buttons, two public counters, mail service at P.O. Box 737, and a county Citizen Request Form for inquiries. Types of Talladega County Court Records
Circuit Court files include higher-value civil suits, felony criminal prosecutions, domestic relations, divorce, and appeals from lower or administrative courts. Talladega County Court Records Access Law
Ala. Code § 36-12-40 supports a resident's right to inspect and copy public writings unless another law creates an exception. Section 36-12-41 allows public officers to supply copies upon request and payment of lawful fees. The right applies to public material held by the correct office, not to every detail in every court file.
A useful request names the parties, approximate year, case type, desired document, return address, and accepted payment. Divorce copies are a documented example: the Circuit Clerk charges $5 for a plain copy and $10 for a certified copy. A written divorce request goes to P.O. Box 6137 and should include both parties' names and the approximate year.

Use current code sections rather than broad references to an Alabama FOIA when making a Talladega County records request.
Note: Public inspection rights do not turn a restricted juvenile, adoption, expunged, sealed, or sensitive record into an open file.
Restricted Talladega County Court Records
Juvenile court information is confidential under Ala. Code § 12-15-133. Adoption files are also outside ordinary public access. Sealed and expunged criminal records should not appear like open files. Social Security numbers, financial accounts, minor names, and sensitive identity data may be removed from otherwise public documents.
Expungement is a court process that removes qualifying records from ordinary public access. It does not mean the event vanishes for every legal purpose. Eligibility for misdemeanor, violation, traffic, and municipal charges begins with § 15-27-1, while felony-charge questions begin with § 15-27-2. Talladega County Court Records Offline

Circuit Clerk Brian York's Northern Division serves the Talladega County Judicial Building, while the Southern Division serves Sylacauga. Probate has a separate online service and separate offices. Municipal records remain with the City of Talladega court. Calling first can confirm the division, accepted payment, and whether a file must be retrieved.
Arrest and custody records take another route. Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore's office maintains sheriff and jail information, not the later Circuit or District Court case file. The official Talladega County Sheriff site should be used for roster and sheriff channels, while filed charges, pleas, dispositions, and judgments remain with the appropriate court clerk.

Federal records use a different chain. The Northern District of Alabama locations page identifies federal courthouses, including Anniston for Eastern Division matters.
Complete federal dockets and documents are searched through PACER rather than the Talladega County trial court portal.
Federal appeals then go to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
This final separation prevents a county search from missing a case solely because it was filed in federal court.
A complete fallback request should be narrow. Give the full names used in the case, an approximate filing year, the case type, and the document wanted.
